Vintage Retro & Antique Tube Radio Bluetooth Kit & Aux Cord Input
If you have purchased one of our Retro, Vintage, or Antique Radios, here are a few tips for using the input cord and Bluetooth module.
-When the micro switch is in the position enabling the aux cord, if no device is plugged into it, there may be a squealing or other noise through the speaker. This is a normal condition so no need to be concerned. Once a device is plugged into it, the interference will be shielded.
- Radio schematics vary from set to set, as such, some models will allow the radios volume switch to be operated while in aux cord mode. Others will not and you will need to use the audio device volume for control. Regardless of your radios electronic configuration, you will be able to control the volume through the connected audio device.
B) Wirelessly through Bluetooth.
First, be sure to charge the bluetooth module. There is a charging cord shipped with your kit. Plug the smaller micro USB end into the module and the other end into any USB charger or computer port. When the module is taking on a charge, it will be red. When complete, a blue led will display. When in use, it will illuminate and flash blue every few seconds. To turn it on or off, hold the button down for 3 seconds.
As with the direct aux cord method, flip the micro switch on the back of the set from radio operation to enable the 3.5mm input cord. Next, plug the aux cord into the the Bluetooth module. Hold the power button down for 3 seconds and it will flash red/blue alternatively. It is now in pairing mode.
At this point, you are ready to pair your Bluetooth device, as per its manufacturer instructions. The Bluetooth module will show as “Bluetooth” or “Handsfree” or similar . If a 4 digit code is required, use 0000. You should hear a confirmation of successful pairing through the radio speaker when complete and the led will flash blue.
A few notes on Bluetooth use:
- As with direct aux cord use, if nothing is plugged into the cord, the set may squeal. To mitigate this, be sure to have the Bluetooth module attached to the cord.
- As with direct aux cord use, some radio models will allow the sets volume switch to be operated while in Bluetooth or aux cord mode. Others will not and you will need to use the audio device volume for control. Regardless of your radios electronic configuration, you will be able to control the volume through the connected audio device.
