The Eico 955 In-Circuit Capacitor Tester is a sophisticated instrument designed to evaluate capacitors both in-circuit and out-of-circuit. It identifies open, shorted, or intermittent capacitors. Additionally, it can detect shorted electrolytic capacitors and perform capacitance measurements even with low shunting resistance. This capability allows it to assess old filter capacitors commonly found in vintage radio power supplies. Notably, the instrument operates at a low test voltage of 6 volts, enabling the testing of virtually all capacitors typically encountered in older transistor equipment.
The indicator eye bars are bright and do respond with control adjustments. It obviously powers up but unit has not been tested for accuracy. This is one component from a large estate purchase so has not had extensive assessment. Comes with cable/alligator clips. Shows wear and tear expected on a 60 year old piece of vintage test gear.
